Construction update

CenterPoint Energy is committed to providing safe and reliable natural gas service that makes life's moments possible. This effort includes maintenance and modernization of our infrastructure.

In the week of May 26, a crew will begin to install modern gas main under the south sidewalk of West 24th Street, and the east sidewalk of Russel Avenue South. We expect this work to take about 2 weeks.

Throughout the duration of main installation, a road closure will be present on West 24th Street and on Russell Avenue South. A detour will be in place and local access will be maintained. A detour will be present for the bike path as well. Street parking will be restricted and one sidewalk may be closed while the other remains open.

Main construction on Sheridan Avenue South was completed last week. A crew will arrive on site in the coming weeks to replace and connect service lines to the new main and move meters outside.
