What is
CenterPoint Energy doing for construction?
Crews from CenterPoint Energy began replacing an
existing natural gas pipeline in Brooklyn Park on Monday, May 8. Project
construction in Brooklyn Park is expected to last until early August. Michels Corporation, an
authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, have been installing natural gas
distribution and transmission mains along 68th and 69th
Avenues N. from Winnetka Avenue N. eastward to Adair Avenue N. A New Hope/Crystal phase
will begin early August 2017 on Winnetka Avenue N. southward from 68th
Avenue N. to 55th Avenue N. and on 62nd Avenue N. westward
from Winnetka Avenue N. to W. Broadway Avenue. (See the map below.)
What is the crews' progress?
- Construction on the Winnetka Pipeline project is 41 percent
complete.
- Within the weeks of July 17 and 24, the crews from Michels Corporation will finish
work along 68th and 69th Avenues N. from Adair Avenue N.
to Winnetka Avenue N. This work will conclude the Brooklyn Park phase of
construction.
- During this time, crews from Q3, an authorized contractor
for CenterPoint Energy, will restore the blacktop areas affected by
construction along 68th and 69th Avenues N.
- As crews from Q3 restore one intersection at a time along 68th and 69th Avenues N., that
intersection will be closed briefly during one day; then the intersection will
be reopened when the blacktop area is fully restored. This will continue along 68th and 69th Avenues N. until the
intersections are complete.
- Starting the week of July 31, the crews will begin the New
Hope and Crystal phase of construction. The crews will be installing natural
gas pipeline along Winnetka Avenue N., starting from the north end of the
project at 68th Avenue N. working south to 55th Avenue N.
