Chanhassen Community Center
On Monday night, the City Council approved the remaining construction package for the Chanhassen Community Center, allowing us to officially move forward with this important community project. It’s a major milestone for the city, with plans to open by fall of 2028.
Over the past three years, the city has developed this project through multiple resident meetings, feedback from sports associations, approval from the Legislature, citywide referendum approval and numerous discussions with the City Council, staff and our design and management partners. It has been demanding work, with lots of starts and stops along the way, so moving this project forward was truly a momentous and celebratory moment.
Located along Powers Blvd. and Highway 212 in the Avienda development, this community center will have several amenities to serve our community for decades to come. Staying true to our motto of being “a community for life,” we look forward to bringing our community together as we open the doors in 2028.

Elections
Welcome to election season! With campaign commercials, signs, door-knocking, and events happening throughout our community, we want to share a few helpful reminders.
Please know that door-knocking is protected under the First Amendment, so candidates and their campaigns are permitted to knock on your door. Campaign signs may only be placed on private property with permission from the property owner. Signs placed within the city’s public right-of-way are not permitted and will be removed.

2050 Comprehensive Plan
Over the next several years, the City of Chanhassen will develop its 2050 Comprehensive Plan, a long-range roadmap that will help guide decisions about housing, parks, trails, roads, infrastructure, natural resources and more.
The Comprehensive Plan influences nearly every major city decision and helps shape how Chanhassen grows and evolves over time. Resident feedback will play an important role throughout the process, helping ensure the plan reflects the priorities, values and vision of the people who call Chanhassen home.
Residents will have opportunities to attend open houses and workshops, share feedback and ideas, learn about planning topics and stay informed as the work moves forward. Avienda
Last evening, the development team for Avienda hosted a public meeting at City Hall to share an updated plan and announce the site’s grocery anchor. Coborn’s Market & Table will be the grocer at Avienda, bringing their new store concept to Chanhassen. Coborn’s has successfully launched this modern concept in Plymouth and is excited to enter the Chanhassen market.
The Avienda development is planned to go before the Planning Commission in September and the City Council in October for final approval of the updated site plan. We encourage you to subscribe to the project page to stay up to date on the latest developments.
