Hello Chanhassen Residents,
It is exciting to see the buds popping—it’s always a beautiful time of year in Chanhassen!
Council Updates
On Monday, the City Council reviewed a variety of ordinances, from parking to zoning to assessments. We continue to evaluate ordinances to ensure they are in line with the goals of the City Council. Most ordinance changes must go to the Planning Commission for a public hearing and then to the City Council for approval. You can subscribe to receive email notifications of agendas to keep up with the issues you’re interested in.
Carver County Sheriff’s Office
We were introduced to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office Chanhassen leadership team by Lieutenant Tyler Stahn. It was great to meet the team who will be serving the City of Chanhassen in 2025. Lt. Stahn shared with us their focus on safe driving throughout the city. There will be a notable presence of enforcement, particularly in areas where there is known speeding. Lt. Stahn and the team will be utilizing their work plan to ensure an elevated level of service to our residents. We value and appreciate the important work of our law enforcement.
Parks & Recreation
The City Council received the Parks & Recreation Department’s 2024 Annual Report. Whether it's partnerships, sponsorships, programming, maintenance or our beloved citywide events, it is without question that the Parks & Recreation Department is a source of pride for our community. Please take a moment to read the report—and thank you to our amazing team.
City Commissioners

On Monday evening, we had the opportunity to thank our outgoing city commissioners for their service. As the recommending bodies to the City Council, our commissioners provide invaluable feedback and direction and continue to be important voices in local government. We appreciate their time and dedication to serving Chanhassen. We would also like to welcome our newly appointed commissioners:
-
Planning: David Grover, Michael Olmstead, Ryan Soller
-
Parks & Recreation: Nora Nashawaty, Emily Nagel, Kurt Scheppmann
-
Commission on Aging: Jane Bender, Janet Dean, Rebecca Johnson, Barbara Solum
-
Economic Development: Nicholas Gardino, John Kroll
-
Environmental: Scott Grefe, Glenn Stolar
City Hall
And finally, the City Council had the opportunity to walk through the new City Hall. It was exciting to see the progress and how the design is coming to life. We anticipate the completion date to be the end of August, with move-in expected in early September. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and public tours are scheduled for this fall. Check out a behind-the-scenes video from a recent city staff tour of the site.
Wishing everyone a great weekend—and to those who celebrate, a happy Easter. If you have any questions, please contact me at eryan@chanhassenmn.gov.
Warmest regards, Elise Ryan
