Thank you for the incredible response to my previous email regarding the housing legislation. I appreciate the many letters sent to the committee as well as the general inquiries about the legislation’s potential impact. I am always impressed with the level of engagement from our residents.
Housing Legislation
The hearings scheduled for this week were canceled, so there is not much to update you on at this time. We will keep you posted on any future developments pertinent to the progress of these bills.
Galpin Blvd.
We are moving into a very busy road construction season and we know that Galpin Boulevard is a highly traveled north-south connector in our city. This project, which is located to the north of Highway 5, began in earnest last year and substantial completion is set for this November. There will be a number of closures and detours so please sign up for project updates and watch this video for more specific details on the scope of the project, timelines and project contact information.
Fiber Installation
With the continued build-out of the fiber network, please see the following map, which shows the companies with active permits at specific locations in Chanhassen. Comcast has indicated to the city that they intend to have a full buildout to every home in Chanhassen by the end of 2025.
Avienda Development
At our City Council Work Session on Monday, we saw the proposed Avienda Apartment project plans. It was an opportunity for City Council to provide initial feedback on their concept. On Tuesday, Inland Development Partners, along with Level 7 Land Development, held a neighborhood meeting to gather feedback and answer questions from residents. We anticipate a formal application for the project in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for a schedule of meetings to attend and provide feedback. Click here to learn more about the proposed apartment plan and to sign up for this project’s email list.
We do not have any additional information about the retail/restaurants portion of the site. Level 7, the property owner, has not shared with us the status of other potential tenants. The city shares your interest in seeing that part of the site move forward and is not causing any delays.
Proposed Developments
I often receive questions about various developments around the city. While I am always happy to answer your questions or put you in touch with the appropriate staff member, our Proposed Developments project page is another resource that you may find helpful. By signing up for the email list highlighted on that webpage, you will receive a notification email whenever a new project is proposed. Without a local paper to rely on, we hope this communication can be a useful resource for you.
Congressman Emmer
Last Friday, we had the opportunity to visit with Congressman Tom Emmer as he stopped by City Hall. We shared all of the great work being done in Chanhassen and discussed possible areas of federal support in the future. Additionally, Rep. Emmer met with Chanhassen Fire Chief Andrew Heger and recognized Lieutenant Lance Pearce (retired) for his 34 years of service. Thank you for the visit, Congressman!
I am pleased to know that this email often prompts additional questions, so don’t hesitate to connect with me if you have follow-up questions, concerns or ideas at eryan@chanhassenmn.org
