To combat the spread of COVID-19, we’re seeing daily announcements about schools and higher-ed institutions closing or temporarily transitioning coursework to an online format. For students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, it is important that educators and IT staff plan for accessibility if audio is required in order to participate in the online lessons. Below is a list of resources collected in the past few days.
Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP): Teachers can assign videos for students to watch then do follow up assignments. And all the content is captioned and audio described as well as being free. It is also now matched with Common Core and State Standards, which makes it easy to match up with teaching/learning objectives. If you don't already have an account it is easy to set one up at the DCMP website.
