Thank you for completing your Individual Development Plan
Thank you to everyone who completed or updated their Individual Development Plan (IDP). Between Jan. 1 and Oct. 3 of this year 365 people identified nearly 2,500 technical training needs in their IDPs.
What happens next? Throughout October and November this information will be reviewed by your Area Technical Training Team (ATTT) to determine the local training priorities. Those priorities will then be compiled at the state level and used to develop the training plan for 2027.
Didn’t complete your IDP or have new training needs? Communicate your technical training needs directly to your ATTT and add them to your IDP today. We regularly pull updated information from the IDP tool and use it for direct email advertisement when applicable trainings are being held, so there is a lot of value in keeping your IDP up to date throughout the year!
Want to start tackling your training needs right now? Here are some training resources already available:
Also, be sure to mark your calendar to tune into the Tech Talk on Nov. 16 at 1 p.m., which will go in depth on the technical training resources that are available to you year round.
GIS Tech Talks
Join us on Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. for a demonstration of the NRCS GIS Engineering Watershed Toolbox. Amanda Deans, TTCP Engineer, will demonstrate how you can use the toolbox in ArcGIS Pro to delineate a watershed, calculate a watershed slope, calculate an RCN, and other useful features. On Nov. 23 at 1 p.m., Christopher Kringstad, NRCS GIS Specialist, will discuss Map Series in ArcGIS Pro. Tech Talk session topics and descriptions, a link to join the live session, and links to replays can all be found on the Tech Talk page.
Feel free to submit your ideas for future GIS Tech Talks.
Tyler’s Three Things: Bin Run Seed
“Bin Run” seed refers to grain that is produced and then planted as seed on the same farm owned by the producer.
Minnesota statute, known as “Seed Law,” must be followed in all seedings, including conservation work.
Seed sold or given away in Minnesota, including private sales, must be sold or given by a permitted vendor.

2026 Shared Training Calendar
An updated working version of the 2026 training calendar is available. This 12-month view of training offerings is regularly updated and provides information about upcoming training events, including potential dates and locations. Please see the legend at the top and note that the further out a training is proposed the more likely adjustments will need to be made. The dates, locations, and other details are always tentative until the event is posted on the Training Calendar.
