Less aggressive than many sun-loving goldenrods, zigzag goldenrod makes a good addition to rain gardens and native plantings in partial shade. The 2-to 3-foot-tall rhizomatous perennial grows naturally in most Minnesota counties except for some in the far north. Its composite flowers attract a wide range of pollinators.
