Registration Open for Burnsville Police Citizens Academy

It's never too early to sign up! Registration is open for the Fall session of the Burnsville Police Citizens Academy.

When:    Thursday evenings for 11 weeks 
                 Sept. 5 – Nov. 14 
                 6 - 9:30 p.m.

Topics include:

• Learn the history of and tour the police department
• Review of common police calls/ laws of arrest/ handcuffing procedures
• Functions of patrol, investigations, SWAT, physical evidence team, domestic abuse response team, negotiators, bike patrol traffic and K-9 units
• Traffic stops/DWI demonstration
• Officer survival, use of force
• Driving course
• Student involved scenarios, a Taser demonstration and shooting in our indoor range.
