Brooklyn Park, MN — July 7, 2026 — At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, Brooklyn Park Police responded to a report of a shooting at Hartkopf Park, located at 7300 Florida Ave N. Upon arrival, officers found a 16-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers provided lifesaving aid, but the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Brooklyn Park detectives responded to the park and began an investigation. That investigation, while still ongoing, has resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old male and the recovery of the weapon used in the shooting.
The suspect was booked at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center on probable cause second degree murder.
