 Zanewood Recreation Center Grand Opening
Brooklyn Park, Minn. - The City of Brooklyn Park invites you to our Zanewood Recreation Center Grand Opening on Thursday, April 23 from 4-7 p.m. Not only will you be able to come tour our new teen center, The Wood, but that evening will also feature our annual Cops and Teens Basketball Tournament.
Explore our new constructed and the renovated space next door. The Wood features the first ever city-owned gymnasium, that was funded in part by a donation The Thielen Foundation. The center will be home to the 13th Best Buy Teen Tech Center in the state of Minnesota. We have curated The Wood to make teens feel like they have space of their own in Brooklyn Park. This includes a gaming room, an art space, a podcast studio, a recording studio, lounge spaces, and more. Additionally, the Brooklyn Park Workforce Development team will have an office at The Wood, helping connect teens to jobs, internships, career development skills, networking skills, and more! Guests will also get a chance to check out our renovated K-5 space next door to The Wood. Staff specifically designed the renovated space to make sure our youth had rooms that best fit their needs.

Check out the Cops and Teens Basketball Tournament while you are here. Local teens team up with police officers from around the area, offering the teens and officers a chance to connect and build rapport. The teams battle to see who gets to take claim of the championship trophy! This year we will be joined by Brooklyn Park Police, Brooklyn Center Police, City of New Hope Police, Brooklyn Park Voices, and Hennepin County Sheriff Officers. Former Minneapolis North basketball star and NCAA Champion Kahlid El-Amin will be joining us for the evening. We will also have basketball shooting games, raffles, concessions, a live DJ, and more!
