Here is the schedule of work the contractor plans to do within the next few weeks:
Greenhaven Neighborhood (Phase 1)
- Please see “Caring for Your New Sod” for special instructions on care and warranty for your newly placed sod.
- The sod has a 45-day warranty period which will end on November 2, 2025.
- The contractor will water as needed during the warranty period.
- Street signs will continue to be installed.
- The last layer of asphalt is rescheduled to be paved Wednesday, October 15, weather permitting. Do not park on the street or your vehicle will be towed. Do not drive over the oil that is sprayed on the street before the contractor paves the asphalt. You can drive over the asphalt after the contractor is done rolling it.

Caring for your new sod
- The information below will help to make sure your new sod survives:
-
MOWING:
- Please do not mow for at least 3 weeks, preferably closer to 4 weeks in hot dry weather. The leaf blades are all that remain for the plant to live. Do not take what is left of the grass because it may not come back.
- After 3 to 4 weeks set the mower deck at least 3 inches high or at the highest setting. Do not cut more than 1/3 of the plant off at a time, and do not mow during hot weather. Please cut your new sod at this height for the remainder of the year and suggest doing this next year as well.
-
WATERING:
- The contractor will water the sod as needed during the 45-day warranty period. Even during this time, if you notice the sod is drying out, please water it as appropriate.
- New sod roots can take over a year to reach full length. We recommend the new sod to get at least 2 inches of water per week in four or five applications. To check if you are watering enough, place a shallow, flat container under the sprinkler. Use the water depth in the container to determine the appropriate length of time needed to achieve the appropriate amount of watering.
- Water more during warm, dry, or windy weather to keep your sod moist. Water during the cool part of the day, early morning hours (4 am to 10 am) are best. Avoid the middle of the day when it is hot and sunny to prevent burning the grass.
- We can’t stress enough how important it is to water your sod for at least the next two to three years.
- Your new sod is exempt from the City’s watering restrictions for the next two years.
-
FERTILIZING:
- Please consult your local lawn maintenance expert for advice on application type and rates.
-
WARRANTY:
-
You will be responsible for watering and maintenance of your new sod after the 45-day warranty period. The City and Contractor will not replace your sod if it dies. If you see issues with the sod, please contact us by the warranty expiration date as shown below:
- Phase 1: November 2, 2025
