During this meeting, they will discuss environmental justice in relation to the Hwy 252/I-94 study. The meeting will include a presentation and a brief question and answer session, followed by individual breakout rooms for in-depth discussions on environmental justice. Each breakout room will focus on one of the three cities along the project area: North Minneapolis, Brooklyn Center, and Brooklyn Park.

More about this project
Hwy 252 and I-94 in Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park and north Minneapolis need improvements and repairs. Currently, people who use this road experience a high number of crashes, heavy traffic congestion, and unsafe crossings for people walking, biking, and rolling. These challenges impact the cohesiveness and livability of the surrounding communities and the commuters traveling Hwy 252 and I-94 daily.
To find a solution, MnDOT will continue the refinement of design elements that were recommended to move forward in the process for further study. During this work, they will work closely with the public and federal/local partners such as the City of Brooklyn Park to gain a better understanding of how safety and transportation needs are being addressed with the alternatives. MnDOT will also look at how a new design might impact the environment in surrounding communities, including the people, plants, animals, water, air, buildings, and structures.
Over the next year, MnDOT needs your feedback on:
- Whether Hwy 252 should intersect above or below local roads
- Recommended locations of Hwy 252 at interchanges
- Improvements for people walking, biking, and rolling
- Number of lanes
- Public transit frequency
- Noise mitigation
A new road design concept will be chosen in 2026. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2029.
