Little Dodgers: Stick & Puck Hockey
We are excited to announce a new hockey program in Brooklyn Park! Little Dodger Stick & Puck teaches kids ages 3-12 hockey fundamentals, skating techniques, and puck handling. It is led by two former hockey players, Anthony Walsh and Reese Woods. The program begins on Sunday, December 22, and runs until February 23.

Participants will receive training in ten sessions. Some equipment may be onsite, but participants are strongly encouraged to bring a helmet and stick because we can't guarantee we will have enough on site.
Meet Your Coaches:
Anthony Walsh: Former hockey player and author of Hockey Is for Everybody. Graduate of Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Passionate about empowering youth to reach their full potential.
Reese Woods: Decorated former high school hockey player, dedicated to teaching hockey to beginners and those who have not had the opportunity to participate in the past.
Zanewood Fusion
Zanewood is rolling out the red carpet for an epic afterschool experience for kids in K-5th grade! Our Fusion Programs blend cool activities like sports, painting, jewelry making, gardening, and dance with awesome life skills like leadership and healthy living. It's the perfect mix of fun and learning! Plus, we'll make sure your child’s tummy is happy with meals provided during the program.

Adaptive Fitness & Beauty Within
Get ready to have fun this winter with our Adaptive Fitness and Beauty Within Art Class! Adaptive Fitness kicks off on Wednesday, January 22, and runs until March 5. Beauty Within begins Thursday, January 23, and goes until March 6.
Adaptive Fitness: Get moving in our exciting Adaptive Fitness class! This class is perfect for individuals ages 13+ with developmental disabilities. You’ll stay active and have a blast with fitness games and activities, all modified to suit different abilities. Learn new exercises and techniques while bonding with the group! Don’t forget your water bottle and tennis shoes. Pre-registration is a must!
Beauty Within: Let your creativity shine in our Beauty Within Adaptive Art Class! Designed for ages 13+ with developmental disabilities, this class offers fun, hands-on art projects that participants can take home. Plus, the group will work together to create one big art piece by the end of the session. It’s a great chance to get creative, socialize, and have fun in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Family members and personal caregivers are welcome to join in! All materials are provided. Pre-registration is required!
NEW CLASS: Leaps & Turns
Registration is now open for three dance classes starting in December, including our new Leaps & Turns class. Register HERE
Leaps & Turns Mondays, December 2 - May 5 | 6:45-7:30 p.m. This class focuses on the fundamental elements of turns and leaps in ballet, jazz, and lyrical dance. Dancers will perform in our spring recital. They will need tan jazz shoes and are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement.
Lyrical Production Sundays, December 1 - May 4 | 5:30-6:15 p.m. In this class, dancers explore the lyrical style while working with mixed-aged students to mentor one another. Together, they will create an expressive ensemble piece for the spring recital.
VIP - Very Important Person Sundays, December 1 - May 4 | 4:30-5:15 p.m. Adult dance partners can join the fun in this group class. Adults team up with their child(ren) for a family-friendly class, including warm-up exercises and basic choreography. One adult can partner with all children in the family group. The adult registers for the class, while youth partners can join for free! Participants should wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for movement—formal dance attire is not required.
Safe Sitter Essentials - January 11
prepares students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. During this 6.5-hour training on Saturday, January 11, students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information like what to do if there’s severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises.
*Students even get to use CPR manikins to practice choking rescue and CPR!
Pre-registration for both Safe Sitter Essentials and optional add-on is required. Registration closes 1-week prior to course date. Register Today!
*Please note that the Safe Sitter® Essentials course alone does not include an official First Aid/CPR certification.
For those interested in becoming CPR certified, please select the optional ‘add-on’ for an American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid/CPR additional training & test-out session. This add-on option will be completed the SAME date as the Safe Sitter® Essentials course as listed, extending the overall course to 8 hours in length. Participants must first attend the entirety of the Safe Sitter® Essentials training to be eligible for this add-on.
Enrollment to the add-on Pediatric First Aid/CPR session does not guarantee certification. Certificates will be awarded to participants who successfully demonstrate competency of the required skills as outlined by American Red Cross requirements.

Indoor Pickleball
Enrollment for 2025 open play is open now! Pickleball players will re-enroll into our program each year. Stop-by the front desk of the Community Activity Center OR email Cassidy (cassidy.wester@brooklynpark.org) for a copy of the 2025 enrollment form. All players regardless of how you pay for open play will be required to submit a form prior to joining us in the Armory gym.
The cost is $3 per person OR $11 per family, per visit - pay upon arrival at the Community Center front desk OR cash box in the gym. OR use your healthcare reimbursement - must be pre-registered to utilize healthcare reimbursement plans. All players are encouraged to pre-register to be included in email communications about schedule updates/changes.

Register for Adult Basketball League
Be active and keep in shape with a weekly night of hoops at the Community Activity Center Gym! Two certified officials and a scorekeeper are assigned to each game. This 5 on 5 league will play under National Federation Rules. Brooklyn Park Basketball league will offer recreation, exercise, and it is a great way to socialize while staying active.
Each team will play 7-8 regular season games and a single elimination playoff. Recruit your team now and register today!

Little Farmers: Nature Preschool Drop-off
Come enjoy nature at Eidem Farm! Seasonal offerings range from barnyard exploration, gardening, insects, amphibians to snowshoeing and animal tracking. Your little one will spend an active morning using all 4 senses as they explore Eidem Farm. Daily activities will be dependent on season and weather that day. We will have class in rain or snow, rainsuits and boots are on site!

Let's Read Together
The Zanewood Recreation Center is teaming up with the Hennepin County Library and the Legacy Family Center to host a Let's Read Together Literacy Program. It starts on August 24 and runs until December 28. Participants will meet two Saturday's per month from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

This program has two age ranges: youth readers; ages 10-17 and listeners; ages 5-9. Each participant will have a 1:1 reading buddy.
