Brooklyn Blvd/Elm Creek Blvd bridge
|
|
On October 7, a truck hauling a backhoe stuck the Brooklyn Blvd/Elm Creek Blvd bridge.
Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) engineers assessed the significant damage to the fascia and concrete beams and plan to reopen the southern three lanes as soon as possible. The updated weight restrictions for permit vehicles on the bridge is 90,000 pounds.
The northernmost lane will remained closed while MnDOT works to install concrete barriers. Expected repairs to this part of the bridge will begin late winter into early spring of 2025.
MnDOT is currently planning to reopen the bridge to one lane westbound and 2 lanes eastbound. The westbound rightmost lane will be restricted to right turns.
