City of Brooklyn Park Celebrates Groundbreaking of Decatur Landing Apartments
The City of Brooklyn Park, in partnership with Real Estate Equities and Big-D Companies, today celebrated the groundbreaking of Decatur Landing, a multifamily mixed-income housing development that will bring approximately additional 350 new apartment units to the city. The project will feature a blend of affordable and market-rate housing.
Mayor Hollies Winston, Council Member Tony McGarvey, City Manager Jay Stroebel, Community Development Director Tim Gladhill and executives from Real Estate Equities and Big-D Construction gathered for the event, offering remarks on the impact of the project for the city and the broader region.
“This is a major step forward in our efforts to expand housing options for all Brooklyn Park residents,” said Mayor Hollies Winston. “Decatur Landing reflects our ongoing efforts to keep Brooklyn Park a thriving, livable community.”
Community Development Director Tim Gladhill emphasized the city’s commitment to housing diversity. “By offering a mix of affordable and market-rate units, this development ensures that people of all income levels have access to this high-quality housing.”
Representatives from Real Estate Equities and Big-D Companies also shared their excitement for the project. "We are proud to partner with Brooklyn Park on this development," said Managing Development Partner at Real Estate Equities, Patrick Ostrom. "Our mission is to create housing that makes a difference, and Decatur Landing will do just that."
"For us, Decatur Landing is an opportunity to help build people’s futures. Families of all kinds will enjoy calling this place home,” added Director of Business Development Kris Lynn.
Decatur Landing is expected to be completed in late 2025, with leasing opportunities available soon after.
