 Neighborhood Glowup Challenge
Next week, we’re launching the Neighborhood Glowup Challenge, and we need you to help keep Brooklyn Park looking its best!  With over 80,000 residents, our city is full of life. We want to work with you to give back to our vibrant community.
Between August 19-31, join the City of Brooklyn Park and your fellow neighbors in tidying up our neighborhoods.
Trash bags will be available at City Hall and the Community Activity Center. We kindly ask residents to dispose of what you collect in your home bins or use park bins for park clean-ups.
If you are hosting a trash clean up please share your experience and a few photos below to be featured!

 2024 Farmers Market
The 2024 Farmers Market has begun! It will run from July 10-October 9 and will be held at North Hennepin Community College, access off West Broadway, each Wednesday from 1-6 p.m.

Upcoming Events: Oktoberfest Luncheon: Thursday, October 13 | 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Oktoberfest Join in the fun at the 5th annual Oktoberfest Celebration of German style food and fun at Edinburgh Golf Course! Entertainer “Squeezy” Wes Miller will delight attendees with authentic polka and Oktoberfest accordion strolling music. After lunch dance or sit back and listen to the music of Lost in Deutschland playing a variety of music including polkas and classics. Fee includes lunch buffet, root beer, and entertainment. Cash bar with beer, wine, mixed drinks, and sodas available. Space is limited. Register by September 23
Trips: Cranberry Country: Tuesday, October 15 | 7:45 a.m. - 6:45 p.m. Take in the fall colors traveling through Wisconsin and enjoying Cranberry Country! Tour the Cranberry Discovery Center in Warrens, WI to learn about the history of cranberry production. Shop in the gift store and enjoy lunch in the café; menu: Cranberry Chicken Salad Sandwich with chips, beverage, and ice cream. Then on to the Berry Best tour of the Wetherby Cranberry Marsh, visit the marsh and packaging facility to purchase fresh cranberries and cranberry products. On the trip home stop at the Menomonie Creamery to purchase cheese, snacks, and other tasty refreshments. Register by September 9
Technology Educational Presentations To Stream or Not To Stream Thursday September 12 - 10 a.m. | Community Activity Center The weather is changing as you get ready to spend more time indoors have you thought of “cutting the cord” on cable or satellite service or wondering what people mean when they say “streaming TV”, we provide guidance and explanations. We’ll cover smart TVs and streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, including costs. We also provide tips for choosing the right option(s).
Reimagine Aging Conference- Aging in a Digital World Friday, September 27 | 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This annual conference highlights current technology trends, products, and information to support older adults and their caregivers in making technology work for them. This year’s speaker lineup will offer information ranging from the basics of technology vocabulary and taking control of online privacy to aging in place with assistive technology and a case study of a program providing tablets pre-loaded with select functions and apps to isolated older adults.  Fee Assistance
Did you know we have fee assistance and scholarships available?
The City of Brooklyn Park provides fee assistance for all residents of Brooklyn Park to participate in programs.
Assistance will reduce fees up to 75% based on income and household size. Additional fee reduction may be available for families experiencing homelessness or for children that are considered wards of the state.
The maximum scholarship amount is $400 per person, per year.
Additional fee assistance is available for Summer Camp and Summer Fusion.
Scholarships are not available for facility use fees, athletic leagues, private lessons, or trips. Learn more HERE.

 Happy Hours at Historic Eidem Farm
We are excited to partner with Heavy Rotation Brewing Company to host a pair of Happy Hours at the farm this summer.
Our first event is on Friday, August 23 starting at 6 p.m. Jake Stow will performing an acoustic set and Heavy Rotation will be serving drinks until 9 p.m. La Cocina Food Truck will be there. At dusk, we will start a movie, The Wedding Singer. So bring a blanket, chairs, something to snack on, and settle in for a great time on the farm! Facebook Event Page

 Family Fun & Movie at Historic Eidem Farm
Head to Historic Eidem Farm on Thursday, August 29 for a movie night! Come out early to enjoy time on the farm before Babe, begins at dusk.
There will be bag toss, goat petting, farm animal mask making, exploring the secret garden, and coloring activities before the 1995 classic Babe, plays on the big screen!
Jamisons Hibachi Food Truck will be onsite as well.

 Faust: Pickup Truck Opera
It's French Romantic opera and new wave disco beats. It's a deal with the devil as humanity shoots for the moon. It's Mixed Precipitation's 16th annual summer opera extravaganza.
This performance is free, with voluntary donations welcome online or at the performance. Recommended for all ages.
Adapted from composer Charles Gounod’s 1859 opera Faust, with a libretto by Jules Barbier and Michael Carré.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SITE This performance is at North Hennepin Community College in the central quad.
PARKING is available in lots. Enter the lot from West Broadway and 84th Avenue North.
Follow the posted signage to the outdoor performance area on the north side of the Campus Center.
Bring a water bottle or beverage, sunscreen, and a folding chair or blanket to sit on the grass. Picnics are welcome. Please be neat and haul out your trash.
 Salsa del Soul Concert
Enjoy live music and community at the Community Activity Center. Head to the Community Activity Center lawn from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to enjoy an outdoor performance from Salsa del Soul.
Bring your chair or blanket, and maybe even some dancing shoes!
Don't forget a water bottle or something to drink to stay hydrated!
