Our next Good in the Hood is set for Tuesday, August 13 from 12-2 p.m. at the Zanewood Recreation Center. Get there early!
This event is open to everyone, regardless of age or situation. There is no need to sign up or meet any specific requirements. We believe that access to quality food is crucial.
Distribution Details: Each individual is eligible for up to 30 pounds of food, and each dependent will receive an additional 15 pounds. No sign-up is required; show up and pick the food you want. First come, first serve while supplies last

 2024 Farmers Market
The 2024 Farmers Market has begun! It will run from July 10-October 9 and will be held at North Hennepin Community College, access off West Broadway, each Wednesday from 1-6 p.m.

Upcoming Events: Trips Rochester City Tour: Wednesday, Sept 18 | 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Learn the inside story of Rochester’s amazing growth and transformation for a humble Midwestern farm town to a world-famous mecca for the medical arts. A step-on guide will narrate a captivating journey through time. Delve into the rich tapestry of Rochester’s past, uncover tales of resilience, innovation, and community spirit. After the tour, enjoy lunch at Victoria’s Ristorante in downtown Rochester, featuring made-from-scratch dishes in a lovely atmosphere. Choose from Baked Mostaccioli, Walleye Sandwich, or Chicken Honey Mustard Salad. Register by August 19
Cranberry Country: Tuesday, October 15 | 7:45 a.m. - 6:45 p.m. Take in the fall colors traveling through Wisconsin and enjoying Cranberry Country! Tour the Cranberry Discovery Center in Warrens, WI to learn about the history of cranberry production. Shop in the gift store and enjoy lunch in the café; menu: Cranberry Chicken Salad Sandwich with chips, beverage, and ice cream. Then on to the Berry Best tour of the Wetherby Cranberry Marsh, visit the marsh and packaging facility to purchase fresh cranberries and cranberry products. On the trip home stop at the Menomonie Creamery to purchase cheese, snacks, and other tasty refreshments. Register by September 9

 Fee Assistance
Did you know we have fee assistance and scholarships available?
The City of Brooklyn Park provides fee assistance for all residents of Brooklyn Park to participate in programs.
Assistance will reduce fees up to 75% based on income and household size. Additional fee reduction may be available for families experiencing homelessness or for children that are considered wards of the state.
The maximum scholarship amount is $400 per person, per year.
Additional fee assistance is available for Summer Camp and Summer Fusion.
Scholarships are not available for facility use fees, athletic leagues, private lessons, or trips. Learn more HERE.
Upcoming Events
 Brooklyn Park's Night Out
Join us for Brooklyn Park's Night Out, a kickoff celebration for National Night Out. The event will occur at Central Park and include a free outdoor movie, Kung Fu Panda 4.
From 7-9 p.m., we will have activities throughout the park including; touch-a-truck, popsicles, yard games, Kidsdance DJ, concessions, food trucks, and more.
The movie will begin around 9 p.m.

 Celebrate Brooklyn Park: Sounds of Asia
As a part of our Celebrate Brooklyn Park series, we are hosting a Sounds of Asia concert at River Park on Saturday, August 3. This is a FREE concert and the whole community is invited! Make sure to bring your blankets and chairs, as this concert is outdoors! Don't forget your sunscreen and something to drink as well.
Live music starts at 11:30 a.m. with headliner Ka Lia Universe at 1:30 p.m. Come early to enjoy a FREE yoga class under the shade of the trees. Make sure to bring a mat! Then grab some treats from Tong Thai Street Food or challenge your friends to cornhole in the park!

 Swim Level Assessment Day - August 8
Are you looking to sign up for swimming lessons but unsure which level to register for? Brooklyn Park Aquatics offers a FREE Swim Level Assessment Day on Thursday, August 8th from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Swim level assessment day is for new and returning families (ages 3-12) looking to be assessed on their swimming skills. Swimmers will then be provided with the appropriate swim level to register for based on our program’s affiliation with the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program.
Join us Thursday, August 8th at the Jackson Middle School Pool – 6000 109th Ave N. Champlin, MN 55316
Register for a 15-minute time slot between 5:30-7:30 p.m. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your registered time to check-in and utilize the locker room. Be sure to pack your swimsuit, towel, and goggles as needed! Preregistration is required.

 Happy Hours at Historic Eidem Farm
We are excited to partner with Heavy Rotation Brewing Company to host a pair of Happy Hours at the farm this summer.
Our first event is on Friday, August 23 starting at 6 p.m. Jake Stow will performing an acoustic set and Heavy Rotation will be serving drinks until 9 p.m. At dusk, we will start a movie, The Wedding Singer.
