Community Development Director Kim Berggren departs Brooklyn Park; City launches search for successor

Brooklyn Park, MN –  After 17 years of service, Community Development Director Kim Berggren departed Brooklyn Park to take on a similar role with the City of Bloomington.

City Manager Jay Stroebel expressed deep gratitude for Berggren's contributions in a recent Star Tribune interview, saying, "Kim Berggren has made a lasting and positive impact on Brooklyn Park. Her leadership and vision have been instrumental in numerous development initiatives, particularly along the Hwy. 610 corridor and in the formation of the Brooklyn Park Small Business Center. Her efforts in workforce development, especially focusing on youth and young adults, and her enhancement of the City's inspection processes, have been significant. We will miss her dedication and passion."

Reflecting on her tenure at a May 13 City Council meeting, Berggren said, "I'm so grateful for the chance to work here for all these years. I really can't think of a day that I wasn't looking forward to coming here and working on challenging, interesting projects with really good people, both internally and externally to the organization."

As Berggren transitions to her new role in Bloomington, Brooklyn Park officials will begin the search for her successor. The City is committed to finding a highly qualified individual to continue the progress and initiatives Berggren helped set in motion, including the establishment of a BioTech Innovation District, which aims to expand the City’s commercial tax base and attract medical, research, and care companies.
