Did you know that May is Older Americans Month? It is all about celebrating the vibrant lives and remarkable contributions of our elders. This year's theme, "Powered by Connection," emphasizes the transformative power of meaningful relationships. Check out a video HERE!

Doorbells with cameras, remote treat dispensers for pets, and "smart home" apps to control lights and thermostats have become very popular. This presentation covers various security and monitoring systems, including how they work, what they cost and how to decide which system meets the homeowner's needs.

Travel north for a summer day in Duluth! Take in the views from the top of the hill along Skyline Drive overlooking the Twin Ports of Superior and Duluth and then head to the harbor to take in the view from the water. Walk along the harbor area before boarding the Vista Star for a narrated sightseeing cruise to experience the wonders of Lake Superior. Enjoy lunch at The Pickwick Restaurant & Pub, an area landmark since 1914 along the shores of Lake Superior. Choose from: Italian Penne Diablo, Classic Reuben Sandwich, or Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. Of course, no trip would be complete without a stop at Toby’s in Hinckley to purchase goodies (on your own). Register by July 8.

 2024 Step To It
The 2024 Hennepin County Step to It Challenge is underway but it is not too late to join! Help us take home the top prize!
Walk, run, skip or play a sport, it all counts towards your goal. You can even win FREE Minnesota Twins tickets for participating. We will have a drawing each week to award people a set of four tickets for an upcoming Minnesota Twins game.
When sign up, make sure to select Brooklyn Park as your city, so our community take home the gold! You can create and join additional group(s) to compete against other local neighborhoods, organizations, and more!
Don't have a smart watch or something to track your steps? No worries, you can just enter the exercise you did and for how long, and the Step to It website will automatically calculate your steps.

 Summer Camp Registration
Spots for our Summer Camps are filling up fast but we still have limited spots available. We still have limited openings at the Community Activity Center, Northwoods, and Willowstone. There are openings at Norwood and also our Preschool Camps at Historic Eidem Farm.
You can register in three ways:

 Fee Assistance
Did you know we have fee assistance and scholarships available?
The City of Brooklyn Park provides fee assistance for all residents of Brooklyn Park to participate in programs.
Assistance will reduce fees up to 75% based on income and household size. Additional fee reduction may be available for families experiencing homelessness or for children that are considered wards of the state.
The maximum scholarship amount is $400 per person, per year.
Additional fee assistance is available for Summer Camp and Summer Fusion.
Scholarships are not available for facility use fees, athletic leagues, private lessons, or trips. Learn more HERE.

Enjoy appearances from school marching bands and performers including Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca. Following the parade, head to the Community Activity Center to continue the fun. Event highlights include live music with headliner Lt Sunnie, inflatables, food trucks, a makers market and more! Get your family or friends together to kick off the summer with Brooklyn Park.
