 Good in the Hood Food Distribution
When: Tuesday, March 12 Time: 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Where: Zanewood Recreation Center – 7100 Zane Ave N
This event is open to everyone, regardless of age or situation. There is no need to sign up or meet any specific requirements. We believe that access to quality food is crucial.
Distribution Details:
Each individual is eligible for up to 30 pounds of food, and each dependent will receive an additional 15 pounds. No sign-up is required; show up and pick the food you want. First come, first serve while supplies last

 Farmers Market Seeking Vendors
Calling produce and craft vendors!
Vendor Applications for the Brooklyn Park Farmers Market are now available.
The market runs Wednesdays from 1-6 p.m., starting July 10 to October 09. Located at North Hennepin Community College parking lot.
Applications are due March 26 at 11:59 p.m. Vendors will be notified of their status by April 12.
 Summer Camp Registration
Registration for summer camps in Brooklyn Park are underway. All camp options are open for registration, this includes our youth camps at the Community Activity Center, Northwoods, Norwood, Willowstone, Teen Camps, and Preschool Camps at Historic Eidem Farm.

 Fee Assistance
Did you know we have fee assistance and scholarships available?
The City of Brooklyn Park provides fee assistance for all residents of Brooklyn Park to participate in programs.
Assistance will reduce fees up to 75% based on income and household size. Additional fee reduction may be available for families experiencing homelessness or for children that are considered wards of the state.
The maximum scholarship amount is $400 per person, per year.
Additional fee assistance is available for Summer Camp and Summer Fusion.
Scholarships are not available for facility use fees, athletic leagues, private lessons, or trips. Learn more HERE.

We are excited to partner with North Hennepin Community College to bring the community an amazing event on Wednesday, March 13 to celebrate Women's History Month and International Women's Day! This is going to be an empowering and inspiring affair!!!

Women’s History Month (March) was designated by a presidential proclamation to honor women’s contributions to American history. International Women’s Day (March 8th is a global day celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements while calling to action - everyone, everywhere - in accelerating women’s equality.

Recreation and Parks is partnering with NHCC to assist with a service project for Period Kits MN.
Our goal is to make 200 kits during our service project. However, to reach this goal, we need a lot of help. In total, we need 1400 Regular Tampons, 600 Super Tampons, 1000 Overnight Pads, 1000 Regular Pads, and 200 Flushable Wipe Packs.
Right now, in the Community Activity Center front desk there is a box for the donated items we need – tampons, pads, and flushable wipes. Now until March 12, the next time you are out shopping, swoop into the menstrual products aisle and grab a couple of things to donate.
 Movies at the Community Activity Center
We will be hosting two movies this March at the Community Activity Center, 5600 85th Ave N. Both movies are FREE and there is no registration required. Free popcorn will be served. Guest are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, snacks, and a friend or two!

 Swim Assessment Day - Monday, March 18
Our next Swim Level Assessment Day is set for Monday, March 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Middle School.
Swim level assessment day is for new and returning families (ages 3-12) looking to be assessed on their swimming skills. Swimmers will then be given the appropriate swim level to register for based on our program’s affiliation with the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program. Join us Monday, March 18th at the Brooklyn Middle School Pool – 7377 Noble Ave N. Brooklyn Park 55443.
Register for a 15-minute time slot between 5:30-7:30 p.m. Please arrive 10 minutes before your registered time to check-in and utilize the locker room. Be sure to pack your swimsuit, towel, and goggles as needed!

 Community Youth & Family Anti-Violence Game Night

Will feature board games, card games, video games, food, and raffle prizes. More details will be released closer to the event. This is a FREE community event open to all ages.
 Maple Syruping at the Farm
Have you ever wondered where the syrup you put on your pancakes comes from? Join Farm staff to experience the process of collecting sap from maple trees and turning it into syrup. After, warm up around a bonfire and enjoy a treat with maple syrup!
*Maple Syrup equipment is provided, everyone attending this program must register and pay. Students must be accompanied by a registered adult. $6/participant
