*Due to the lack of snow and warm temperatures, the 2024 Winterfest event is moving indoors to the Community Activity Center and will now be held from 2-4 p.m. on February 10.
Winter Fun Fest at the Zanewood Recreation Center on Thursday, February 1 will go on as planned with indoor and outdoor activities.

 Good in the Hood - February 13
Our second Good in the Hood Food Distribution is set for February 13 at the Zanewood Recreation Center.
When: Tuesday, February 13 Time: 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Where: Zanewood Recreation Center – 7100 Zane Ave N
This event is open to everyone, regardless of age or situation. There is no need to sign up or meet any specific requirements. We believe that access to quality food is crucial.
Distribution Details:
Each individual is eligible for up to 30 pounds of food, and each dependent will receive an additional 15 pounds. No sign-up is required; show up and pick the food you want. First come, first serve while supplies last

 Summer Camp Registration
Registration for summer camps in Brooklyn Park are underway. All camp options are open for registration, this includes our youth camps at the Community Activity Center, Northwoods, Norwood, Willowstone, Teen Camps, and Preschool Camps at Historic Eidem Farm.

March Day Trip: March 13 - 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Art Deco and Art of Charles M Schulz Tour the Art Deco architecturally significant spaces and features within St Paul City Hall and Ramsey County Courthouse. We then head to DeGidio’s Restaurant, a fixture in the St Paul community since 1933, for a Chicken Parmesan lunch of parmesan crusted chicken breast, served over spaghetti with classic sauce and baked mozzarella, garlic bread, and beverage. Next stop, the MN History Center for a self-guided experience exploring the exhibits; including The Life & Art of Charles M Schulz. Register by February 12 HERE

 Fee Assistance
Did you know we have fee assistance and scholarships available?
The City of Brooklyn Park provides fee assistance for all residents of Brooklyn Park to participate in programs.
Assistance will reduce fees up to 75% based on income and household size. Additional fee reduction may be available for families experiencing homelessness or for children that are considered wards of the state.
The maximum scholarship amount is $400 per person, per year.
Additional fee assistance is available for Summer Camp and Summer Fusion.
Scholarships are not available for facility use fees, athletic leagues, private lessons, or trips.

 Zanewood Winter Fun Fest
We are just over a week away from our Winter Fun Fest at the Zanewood Recreation Center. Despite the lack of snow, this event is one you do not want to miss! We've made some adjustments to our event to ensure a fantastic time for everyone, even without the snow! Join us for a unique blend of indoor and outdoor activities that will still make your winter spirit soar!
Indoor Adventures: Animal Tracking Station, Gaga Faux Snow Pit, Foot Golf, and Projected Northern Lights Luminary Room
Outdoor Delights: Live Music, S'mores and Hot Beverages, Bonfire Pits, Life-Size Light-Up Dragon Display, Lantern Making, Slacklining, and Disc Golf
The Zanewood Winter Fun Fest is a FREE event open to all ages and is set for Thursday, February 1 from 5-7 p.m. at the Zanewood Recreation Center. We are thankful to our partner, Three Rivers Park District, and its Explorer Program. We will have some winter gear on site but you are encouraged to dress for the weather.

Activities include: Free Open Ice Skating on Rink 1, including free skate rental Bingo and Sugar Cube Castles in the Gardenview Room Touch-A-Truck with Police, Fire, and Operations & Maintenance Bonfires, Hot Cocoa, and S'mores outside the Gardenview Room Jamison's Hibachi Kitchen Food Truck

 All Abilities Resource Fair
The City of Brooklyn Park Recreation & Parks Department in partnership with District 279 Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) cordially invites you the 2024 All Abilities Resource Fair on Thursday, January 22 at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center.
The goal of the event is to provide community members of all ages and abilities the opportunity to learn about inclusive community resources, services, and programs that are offered within the community. Some of the areas we are hoping to have represented include but are not limited to: educational and family support, adaptive sports and camps, extra-curricular activities, transition programs, resource groups, housing services, and more.
District 279 Case Managers will be offering a demonstration for alternate communication strategies and a “make & take” calming supports activity during the fair.

 Snowshoes & S'mores
Explore the farm on snowshoes! Walk the back loop and warm up by the campfire with hot chocolate and s’mores. This is a pre-registration event, limited quantities of snowshoes are provided. Feel free to bring your own if you have them. All ages welcome! Snowshoe available in kid and adult sizes in limited quantities.
These will most likely be hikes but if snow arrives we will have snowshoes on site for use, both kid and adult sizes.
Cost is $5 per person. Register HERE.

Luminary Hikes at Historic Eidem Farm
Explore the farm at night on snowshoes under the full moon! Hike the back loop and warm up by the campfire with hot chocolate and s’mores. This is a pre-registration event, limited quantities of snowshoes are provided. Feel free to bring your own if you have them.
Ages 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent. These will most likely be hikes but if snow arrives we will have snowshoes on site for use, both kid and adult sizes.

 Black History Month Showcase
Tickets got on sale on Friday, February 2! Tickets are $5 per person. Your ticket will get you into the vendor fair, program, and dinner!
We are excited to announce that we have over 40 vendors signed up for our 2024 Vendor Fair. The fair will open up at 5 p.m. to kick off the event. The fair will feature community resources, local small business, local baked goods, local crafts, and more!
Our program and dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. More details about the program specifics will be released soon, but will feature local performers that will elevate the Black History Month theme: African Americans and the Arts.
