 Snowshoes & S'mores
Explore the farm on snowshoes! Walk the back loop and warm up by the campfire with hot chocolate and s’mores. This is a pre-registration event, limited quantities of snowshoes are provided. Feel free to bring your own if you have them. All ages welcome! Snowshoe available in kid and adult sizes in limited quantities.
These will most likely be hikes but if snow arrives we will have snowshoes on site for use, both kid and adult sizes.

Luminary Hikes at Historic Eidem Farm

 Zanewood Winter Fun Fest
In partnership with Three Rivers Park District and their Explorer Program, Zanewood is hosting their Winter Fun Fest on Thursday, February 1 from 5-7 p.m. at the Zanewood Recreation Center.
This event is FREE and open to all ages. If there is a lack of snow we do have alternative plans that will be shared as the date approaches. Please check our social media pages for the most up to date information.
 WinterFest at Central Park
Our 2024 Winterfest is set for Saturday, February 10 at Central Park. The event will run from 1-3 p.m. and will feature numerous activities including ice skating, sugar cube ice castle building, snowshoeing, sledding, and more!
If we have no snow or it is too warm for some activities, we do have alternative plans. If necessary we will share these publicly here and on our social media pages as we get closer to the date.
 All Abilities Resource Fair
The City of Brooklyn Park Recreation & Parks Department in partnership with District 279 Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) cordially invites you the 2024 All Abilities Resource Fair on Thursday, January 22 at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center.
The goal of the event is to provide community members of all ages and abilities the opportunity to learn about inclusive community resources, services, and programs that are offered within the community. Some of the areas we are hoping to have represented include but are not limited to: educational and family support, adaptive sports and camps, extra-curricular activities, transition programs, resource groups, housing services, and more.
District 279 Case Managers will be offering a demonstration for alternate communication strategies and a “make & take” calming supports activity during the fair.

 Black History Month Showcase

Our Black History Month Showcase is set for Friday, February 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Community Activity Center. Tickets are not on sale yet, we will announce that as we get closer to the date.
In addition, we are seeking Black and African American organizations, local artists/makers, and small businesses to participate in our third annual Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks' Black History Month Showcase/Vendor Fair.

 Winter Adventures on the Farm For Homeschool Families
Explore the magic of winter at Historic Eidem Farm! Learn the different historical modes of transportation in the winter and help build a quinzhee hut. Students will use snowshoes, kick sleds, and shovels. Class is aimed towards ages 5 and up.
*Winter equipment is provided, everyone attending this program must register and pay. Students must be accompanied by a registered adult. $6/participant

 Zanewood Fusion - Session 2 Begins January 2

 Rec on the Go: January 9 - March 21
Our Winter Rec on the Go program kicked off this week at Huntington Place and Autumn Ridge Apartments. The program occurs on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at Huntington Place and on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. at Autumn Ridge.
Rec On the Go is a FREE program that brings recreation opportunities to youth (K-5th grade). Rec On The Go will bring programming to locations around the City of Brooklyn Park.
Our goal is to bring our robust program to the community during the Winter for our youth to have tons of fun! We will continue to provide cool, fun, and creative ways to engage with our youth. Some of these activities will include but are not limited to group games, team building challenges, sports, arts & crafts, and science programs your kids will love!

YEP introduces youth (ages 16-24 living or attending school in Brooklyn Park or Brooklyn Center) to business and entrepreneurship as a career pathway. Unlock your entrepreneurial potential, gain insights from experts, and receive a $50 stipend.
The Fall cohort begins on February 14 - March 20, from 5:30 pm - 8 pm at Zanewood Recreation Center in Brooklyn Park.
