2020-2021 Champions for Youth!

Each year the Alliance partners celebrate direct service leaders in our community who are champions for and with young people. We received over 300 votes and we have two champions!

Congrats to Roy, Marlena & Heather!

Roy Malone is the Youth Specialist for Zanewood Recreation Center in Brooklyn Park. Roy works with the Brooklyn Park Outreach which is a program that provides meals, safety, and activities for the youth in the community. Thanks Roy for being an amazing youthworker!


Marlena Okechukwu and Heather Deutschlaender are Patron Experience Supervisors for Hennepin County Library at Brookdale. These two amazing leaders played a key role in the development of the community-based hiring pathway which has improved the diversity of the library workforce and enabled our libraries to better reflect our community.

  5. Dan Jerzak, Crime Prevention Specialist at Brooklyn Center Police Department. 
  6. Longkee Vang, Community Schools Site coordinator at Brooklyn Center middle & high school as well at the Early College Academy. 
  7. Roy Malone, Youth Specialist at Zanewood Recreation Center in Brooklyn Park. 
  8. Marlena Okechukwu and  Heather Deutschlaender, Patron Experience Supervisors at Hennepin County Library Brookdale.
