 Greetings!
While we continue to face great challenges across our communities, we want to pause to recognize progress made last year and set our intentions for 2022.
Over the last year the Alliance Board of Directors moved to expand our Joint Powers to include voting directors from our College Partners & four emerging leaders. This is an exciting & critical step towards inclusion for our board as work to coordinate a system of high-quality opportunities that accelerate youth success.
We want to celebrate the steps taken last year to advance positive youth development in our community; Last year we:
- Launched The Youth OnBoard Initiative - connecting emerging leaders to decision making tables in our community.
- Piloted equity and disparity reduction projects to improve youth outcomes by disrupting inequity and increasing access to recreation and college opportunities.
-
Relayed resources for community Response & Recovery - in partnership with Youthprise and Brooklyn Center Schools we shifted $200k in funds with direct aid to families impacted by civil unrest and to organizations building community.
In 2022 we will keep it moving with these priorities:
- Continue to grow our Youth Engagement and Equity initiatives
- Continue to bring partners together to respond to Needs of Youth and the Community
- Strengthen our Joint Powers Partnership so we can assess our impact and take youth-centered action.
None of this work is possible without the engagement of young people, partners, staff and funding partners - all of which bring the time, treasure, talent and energy needed to keep pushing for a community that celebrates and realizes the potential of each young person.
Thank you from the BBA team!
