CAREs Mobile Health Pilot Project

On behalf of the Cities of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park, we are happy to partner with the youth, community, Hennepin County Public Health, Brooklyn Center Community Schools, African Career Education and Resource, Inc., and Northwest Hennepin Family Service Collaborative to build a NEW Mobile Health pilot project.

The first round of mobile services will include COVID testing and information, personal protective equipment & supplies, flu shots and mental health check-ins. As we connect with community members most impacted by COVID we will learn and respond to emerging needs.

Partners hope to have the Mobile Health Home out in the community by the end of November. Please contact Rebecca Gilgen if you have questions. Rebecca.gilgen@brooklynsallianceforyouth.org

CAREs Back to School, Class and Work Family Packs

On behalf of the Cities of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park, Alliance staff have pulled together school partners to ask families what COVID personal protective equipment and distance learning supports they need this fall.

  • 1,158 children ages 2-11
  • 841 teens ages 12-17
  • 287 Young adults ages 18-25
  • 1300 adults ages 26

The average cost of each box is $168 and contain essential PPE items with masks for adults and children, thermometers and hand sanitizer. The most popular learning support items that have been requested are headsets, lap desks and USB drives.

Thanks to our partners North Hennepin Community College, Hennepin Technical College, Brooklyn Center Community Schools, the cities of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center, Robbinsdale, Anoka-Hennepin, and Osseo Area School District, we are able to meet the needs of our community and distribute these packs at the end of October!

Our BBA team will help you navigate your transition to college or career, building those key skills to help you be your amazing self: YOU^th Amplified.

Time commitments include weekly meetings and quarterly BBA board meetings; where you will engage with local elected officials and leaders to inform decisions that impact youth. BYC members will be compensated with a stipend for their participation. This will be determined at the end of October including input from the council.
