Update from city leaders; status of curfew will be decided later today

Good Afternoon Brooklyn Park residents,

We want to thank you for your cooperation this weekend and for following the temporary curfew. The safety of our community is our top priority.

Last night was a quiet night in our city with no incidents to report. Minneapolis and St. Paul have curfews Monday (6/1/2020) and Tuesday (6/2/2020), from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. The Mayor and city council will meet at 6:00 p.m. this evening to consider a similar curfew. We will update you as soon as we have a decision.

For the past several nights since George Floyd died in Minneapolis last week, there has been peaceful protests and civil unrest. We will continue to work with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to protect our community.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with George Floyd’s friends, family and with our community that has been impacted by the events of the past few days. We are honored to serve you each and every day.

Sincerely,
Mayor Jeffrey Lunde
Council member Lisa Jacobson
Council member Terry Parks
Council member Susan Pha
Council member Wynfred Russell
Council member Tonja West-Hafner
City Manager Jay Stroebel
Police Chief Craig Enevoldsen
Fire Chief T. John Cunningham
