The city is monitoring federal, state, county, business and foundation partners to quickly develop business support resources.
Current support from our partners include:

Safely returning to work. A new Executive Order issued Wednesday rescinds the current Stay at Home Order as of midnight Sunday night and lays out directives for how certain non-critical businesses and entities can re-open starting Monday. It also states that other non-critical businesses such as bars, restaurants and other places of public accommodation (includes gyms, salons and others) can re-open on June 1, 2020, provided the owner has a written plan and is taking certain precautions. Here are some materials available to you as you consider how to return safely to work.

Reopening guidance for restaurants. Specific resources for restaurants aiming to open by June 1, 2020, can be found on Brooklyn Park’s COVID-19 business resources page, including this guidance on reopening from the National Restaurant Association.

Paycheck Protection Program. More than $120 Billion is still available to keep small business and non-profit employees on payroll. National summaries are posted frequently with the latest data available May 10 showing more than $120 billion in PPP funds still available. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Treasury also continue to provide updates to the FAQ's for PPP Loans.

Business for All Grant. Hello Alice has a $10,000 emergency COVID-19 Business for All Grant to help small businesses in crisis.

Small Business Relief Grant. LISC’s Small Business Relief Grants program is now accepting applications. Eligible businesses can receive up to $10,000 dollars. The application closes May 20. Learn more and apply.

FedEx Support Small Grant. Starting May 25, small businesses impacted by COVID-19 can apply for FedEx’s #SupportSmall Grant. Selected recipients will get a cash grant of $5,000 plus a $500 FedEx Office credit. Learn more an apply.

Grants for beauty professionals. Beauty Changes Lives is offering $1,000 grants will provide financial assistance to beauty professionals or students of beauty programs who are impacted by COVID-19.

Main Street Lending Program: The US Chamber of Commerce on Friday released a new guide to help businesses navigate the Main Street Lending Program. This is a lending program separate from the PPP that is designed to assist businesses with up to 15,000 employees through government-backed loans. Click here to download the guide.

Virtual speaker series. The State of Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DOI) is hosting an upcoming virtual speaker series. The next session on May 21st from 9-10am will feature Eric Seleznow from Jobs for the Future who will offer his national perspective about how employment-based training is a great resources and tool for businesses planning as they moved to recover from COVID-19. Hang up on robocalls.

Ignore online offers for vaccinations and home test kits.

Don’t click on or respond to emails asking for personal information in order to receive an economic stimulus check from the government.

Don’t click on links from sources you don’t know.

Don’t click on or respond to emails that claim a positive COVID-19 test within your workplace.

Don’t click on or respond to emails claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the World Health Organization.

Scammers posing as utilities have been active in their efforts to take advantage of nervous customers. Please remind your constituents that Xcel Energy (and likely any other public utility) will not cut off service with a phone call. If a customer receives a suspicious call, they should hang up and reach out to us via the internet, mobile application, or contact information found on their bill. Our website www.xcelenergy.com.
