Scam alert: Small businesses have already been targeted for potential fraud schemes regarding the SBA economic stimulus package. Learn more and protect yourself and your business from fraud.

COVID-19 awareness and local business advertising: Minuteman Press is offering two free services to local businesses: distributing COVID-19 awareness and prevention posters at no charge to any business in their service area and providing free local advertising on their site. Sign up to add your business.

- Scammers are taking advantage of fears surrounding COVID-19. Learn more about Coronavirus scams from the Federal Trade Commission. Tips for avoiding these scams:
- Hang up on robocalls.
- Ignore online offers for vaccinations and home test kits.
- Don’t click on or respond to emails asking for personal information in order to receive an economic stimulus check from the government.
- Don’t click on links from sources you don’t know.
- Don’t click on or respond to emails that claim a positive COVID-19 test within your workplace.
- Don’t click on or respond to emails claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the World Health Organization.
- Scammers posing as utilities have been active in their efforts to take advantage of nervous customers. Please remind your constituents that Xcel Energy (and likely any other public utility) will not cut off service with a phone call. If a customer receives a suspicious call, they should hang up and reach out to us via the internet, mobile application, or contact information found on their bill. Our website www.xcelenergy.com.
