BOSW CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) & SUPERVISION VARIANCES EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 1, 2022
Due to continued safety and access concerns regarding COVID-19 and the Omicron variant exposure, the Board issued updates on January 21,2022 to the COVID blanket variances approved previously under MN Statute, chapter 148E.035, in the following areas:
Continuing Education (CE) Requirements Under MS 148E.130:
License issued prior to September 1, 2022, with expiration date before September 1, 2023: No limit on the number of independent learning hours obtained and reported at renewal.
License issued prior to September 1, 2022, with expiration date September 1, 2023, or later: Must meet current statutory CE requirements, including the 50% requirement for live, interactive CEs hours obtained and reported at renewal.
Initial license issued on or after September 1, 2022: Must meet current statutory CE requirements, including the 50% requirement for live, interactive CE hours obtained and reported at renewal.
Supervision Requirements Under MS 148E.100-MS 148E.125:
Supervised practice obtained before September 1, 2022: Licensees who have obtained, or are continuing to obtain supervised practice prior to September 1, 2022, have no limit on the amount of telephone or eye to-eye-electronic media supervision. All other statutory supervision requirements remain in effect.
Supervised practice hours obtained on or after September 1, 2022: Licensees who have not obtained any supervised practice prior to September 1, 2022, must meet current statutory requirements including the minimum number of in-person one-on-one supervision required for their scope of practice and license type.
