Health Alert

Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine

As you may be aware, the CDC and the FDA have recommended that there be a pause in the administration of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine due to six reported cases of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis with thrombocytopenia. CDC convened a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for today, Wednesday, April 14 2021, to analyze data concerning these cases.

FDA will review that analysis as it also investigates this situation. Until that process is complete, CDC and FDA are recommending a pause in the use of the J&J COVID-19 vaccine out of an abundance of caution.

Further information and specific recommendations for healthcare providers can be found at: https://emergency.cdc.gov/han/2021/han00442.asp.
