Special Shopping Opportunity at the Bloomington Farmers Market

Human Services Creekside Boutique will be at the Farmers Market on Saturday, September 8 from 9 a.m. –
1 p.m.

A wide variety of handcrafted items including baby blankets, kitchen towels, jewelry, birdhouses and more will be available for purchase. All items are made by local and talented community members. The Creekside Boutique located in Creekside Community Center and is open  Monday – Friday from 10 – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 – 2:45 p.m. with evening hours on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. and on Saturdays during November and December from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Latino and Somali Informational Fairs. Learn more about your community.

The City of Bloomington Human Services will host informational fairs on Saturday, September 8 at Bloomington Civic Plaza. The Latino Fair will be held from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and the Somali Fair will be held from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. These free events will provide Bloomington, Eden Prairie and Richfield residents with an opportunity to connect with services. There will be a variety of state, county and local government agencies along with non-profit organizations sharing information about their programs.

Keep busy this fall at the Bloomington Senior Program

Human Services offers a variety of social and recreational opportunities for  older adults age 55 + and younger persons with a disability through the Bloomington Senior Program. A free information session will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Creekside. Sessions include a tour of the Center led by a senior program volunteer, a video showing about the program, a welcome packet, and the opportunity to stay for lunch. Creekside Community Center Open House and Senior Fair

Come and learn about the wide array of senior housing and health and wellness services available to older adults living in Bloomington on Saturday, September 15 from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Creekside. Meet with representatives from local housing agencies, in-home support services, health and fitness programs and more. This free event will also include an open house of Creekside highlighting the different programs and activities available through the Bloomington Senior Program. Be a part of the Faces of Bloomington Project

The Bloomington Human Rights Commission and Bloomington Historical Society invite you to be part of the Faces of Bloomington Project. This project is designed to showcase the diversity of residents living in Bloomington through a collection of photos which will be mounted together into the shape of Bloomington and displayed at various civic and community sites throughout the city. Individuals and families can participate by having a photo taken or by bringing their own photo to the events listed below.  Personal photos will be scanned and then returned to the owner. Photos may also be submitted electronically by emailing

AARP’s CarFit is coming to Creekside

The Human Services Division in collaboration with AARP, AAA, and AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association) will host a free CarFit program on Saturday, September 22 from 1 – 5 p.m. at Creekside Community Center.
The CarFit program is designed to help older drivers remain safe by providing a hands on review of their vehicle, driving fitness, and opportunities to utilize assistive devices for overcoming any physical obstacles hindering driving.  A CarFit check takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Volunteers Needed for Noon Dining Program

Human Service is currently seeking volunteers for opportunities available with the Noon Dining Program located at Creekside. Lunch Servers are needed from 10:00 a.m.  – 12:30 p.m. and Dishwashers from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.  If you would like to learn more about these opportunities please contact Human Services or click here to visit the volunteer Web page.
