Bloomington, MN - Serve your community and keep residents safe as a Bloomington firefighter. The City is now hiring full-time firefighters with an anticipated hiring range of $78,391 – 88,229 per year and full-time firefighter/paramedics with an anticipated hiring range of $82,310 – 92,641 per year. Benefits include 120 hours of vacation per year, 168 hours of holiday bank per year, 144 hours of personal leave per year and more.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and pass required background, medical, psychological and fitness exams. If applicants have not already completed their FFI, FFII, EMT, NFPA, HAZMAT 1072, FAO and State Firefighter License, they can be completed during recruit training. Bloomington firefighters have operated on a volunteer or paid-on-call basis since 1947. Today that is uncommon for a city the size of Bloomington. The Bloomington Fire Department is beginning its transformation from a mainly paid-on-call department to a hybrid model of full- and part-time firefighters.
