BCAT, in partnership with Southwest TV, are excited to announce the return of Teen Video Boot Camp, now in its third year!
Our summer youth program was a smash hit again last year, and registration filled up quickly! Six excellent short films were produced by the teens throughout the summer.
We will have three camps again this year, one in June, July and August. For more information about the camps and how to register, please visit our website.
BCAT is once again sponsoring up to three shows produced by you, our amazing producers, to this year’s Hometown Media Awards, presented by the Alliance for Community Media.
BCAT will pay for $50 of the $75 entry fee, but you will be responsible for the other $25. The deadline to submit your show to me is Saturday, February 22 at 3 p.m.
If you would like to submit your show to the awards, please read the information about how to do so on our website.
Be sure to review the submission rules and categories from ACM carefully. One main thing to note is that your submission has to be taken from one or more of your episodes that first aired on BCAT or another public access station between January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.
If more than three submissions are received, three names will be drawn at random to be sponsored. If you are not one of the three chosen, you are still welcome to submit your program to the awards yourself. You will then be responsible for the entire entry fee.
All of our producers create excellent programs, and we hope you all consider submitting to the awards. One BCAT show, Latin Evolution TV, took home the award for best magazine show last year. Contact BCAT staff with questions.

We recently acquired a couple of new pieces of equipment that we think you all will enjoy.
The EOS R is Canon's first full-frame mirrorless camera. It is an interchangeable lens camera that takes crisp HD and 4K video. These styles of cameras allow for use of a variety of lenses, which can make your videos look more cinematic. We've paired ours with the new 24-105mm f/4 RF lens.
The Kamerar SD-1 Slider Dolly Mark II is a versatile camera slider that can also be used as a miniature dolly. You can create a large variety of unique shots using this slider.
Check out the latest BCAT Vlog video for more information and a demo of these great new pieces of equipment, available for checkout now!
