The Bloomington Human Rights Commission is seeking nominations for the Omar Bonderud Award. Eligible recipients are individuals and organizations (business, volunteer, or religious groups) that have shown special efforts to ensure citizens of Bloomington equal opportunities in employment, housing, public accommodations, public services, education and/or represent a substantial effort toward educating, winning, or preserving equality and justice for protected groups.

Bloomington is seeking applications for an adult commissioner opportunity to serve on the Human Rights Commission. Applicants are appointed by the City Council and must be residents of Bloomington. Applications are available online.
The law says that you cannot be treated differently in certain areas because of certain personal characteristics. For instance, you can't be treated differently in employment because of your race. For a chart of protected classes, visit the City's website.
The 11th annual Twin Cities World Refugee celebration is on Sunday, July 16, 1 - 5 p.m. at Loring Park in Minneapolis.

Entertainment will be provided by Bob and the Beachcombers, Circus Manduhai, Mariachi Son de Morelos, and Harisen Daiko.
Activities will include inflatables from Dunk N Jump (free of charge), kite flying contest, craft projects with Home Depot and Artistry, and large kite flying demonstrations with Mr. Kite, Craig Christensen.
