Celebrating the ADA's 25th

Bob Peters

Join the Bloomington Human Rights Commission in celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the ADA Thursday, July 23, 6 p.m. 

A series of videos featuring individuals like Bob Peters who are advocates of the ADA and have had an impact on change will be available on the City's website throughout the month.

The Human Services Division is also hosting a Coffee Talk event Friday, July 24, 10 - 11 a.m. where individuals can learn about the Telephone Equipment Distribution Program.

Property Tax Assistance

Looking for assistance on your homeowners and renters property tax return? 

Bloomington Human Services sponsors homeowners and renters free property tax preparation for low-middle income individuals and families. Stop by Creekside Community Center Tuesday, July 7, 9 a.m.

AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will help complete property tax and renters refund returns. No appointments. Walk-in only.

In need of tips to better navigate technology?  The Human Services 50+ Program offers free iPad tutoring the first Thursday of each month, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Creekside Community Center.

The Human Rights Commission aids and advises the City Council in ensuring that all citizens have equal opportunity in employment, housing, public accommodations, public services and education and in other affairs that affect the social well-being of the community.

Fare For All

The Fare For All program is offered one Wednesday each month.  Participants are able to save money on brand-name products such as fresh fruits, vegetables and frozen meat items. There are no income qualifications or guidelines.

Stop by Creekside Community Center, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the following dates this summer to participate:

  • July 22
  • August 19

Reminder: Buyer's Club Summer Hours

Food items

Shop the Creekside Buyer's Club to save time and money this summer. This food mini-market offers fresh produce, staples, dry baking products, pasta, nuts and more. Summer hours are Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., through September 3.


Tobacco Policy

The tobacco policy bans the use of tobacco and tobacco products on City property.  Tobacco use includes, but is not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, snuff, pipes, e-cigarettes, and all other forms of smokes or smokeless tobacco products. 

  • Inside all City-owned or leased buildings (includes Creekside Community Center)
  • On all City-owned or leased grounds, including City parking lots and sidewalks adjacent to City buildings/property (individuals may still smoke in personal vehicles)
  • In City-owned, rented or leased vehicles or equipment
  • City-operated events on City grounds or in City facilities
