2024-2026 Renewals Are Just Around the Corner
The renewal window for licenses and certificates opens next month. ALL licenses and certificates will expire on June 30, 2024, regardless of the date issued.
Do not defer any longer confirming that you have the required professional development hours (PDH) completed before you must renew.
When renewals open, all you will need is
- your PDH hours,
- your license or certificate number,
- your last four digits of your ID number (for most of you, that is your social security number), and
- your credit card information
- If using a corporate card, remember on the payment screen that the information (except email address, which can be your own) must match the card itself, regardless of what your browser may autofill. Correct as necessary. The Board retains no credit card or payment information in the payment screens, so anything that might appear in the payment screens is a factor of your own browser settings.
- If you have had a change of address, be prepared to provide that.
-
If you exclusively use a PO Box for mail (do not receive mail at a physical street address), note that the Board cannot accept your renewal without having a recently received/updated physical street address on file. To make your renewal process smooth, now is the time to email the Board your physical street address. With that on file, we can accept your renewal.
Reminder: There is no grace period with license/certificate expiration. If you need to practice/hold out in Minnesota, you will need to renew.

Find Your CE Carryover for 2024-2026 Renewals Online
If you are wondering if you have carryover you can use toward the upcoming 2024-2026 renewal (opening spring 2024), from now until the opening of renewals you can check through Online Renewal Services.
Log into Online Renewal Services. Your previous renewal confirmation will show.
Click the green "View Renewal Report" button.
|
When you view the report, you'll see a statement to the right. Next to the statement "Carryover to 2024-2026 Renewal," you'll see a number between 0 and 12. This represents your carryover PDH.
A reminder that ethics PDH is never carried over. If you were first licensed in Minnesota on or after July 1, 2022, you will you not be able to log into Online Renewals and will not, in any case, have carryover CE having never renewed and having no CE obligation this initial renewal period.

Are You Retiring Rather Than Renewing?
If you do not intend to renew your license because you are retired, please notify the Board. Unless we hear from you by June 30, 2024, your license status will change to “expired.” Mail or email (aelslagid@state.mn.us), and we will update your status to “retired.” The request must be in writing.
Note: The Board cannot “hold” requests for retired status. Do not submit your request until you are ready to have your status changed. The change is immediate, once your request is processed.

What Else Can You Do to Prepare for Renewals?
It's your license and your livelihood. Protect it by being proactive.
- Confirm that you understand the continuing education requirements: https://mn.gov/aelslagid/continuinged.html
- Check out the continuing education and renewal FAQs: https://mn.gov/aelslagid/faqs.html
- Get a licensed colleague - better yet, 4 licensed colleagues! - to subscribe, so that they get not just the mailed notice but email notices such as this. Subscribing is easy: https://mn.gov/aelslagid/subscribe.html
Why do we say "4 colleagues?" Because while you made the decision to subscribe and while email notices have been available since 2017, not all licensees/certificate holders have taken advantage of this service.
- So share this email with a licensed colleague.
- Ask your professional society to promote the existence of this voluntary service.
- If your firm has compliance or licensing adminstrative staff, let them know about it. Anyone can subscribe to this email service, including the general public.
