All entries have been submitted for the 2014 Michigan Wine Competition. Fifty-one wineries entered a total of 449 wines. A reminder to those who have entered - your wines must be received in the Council office by Thursday, July 24. You may drop them off in person, but please give us advance notice to be sure there is someone here to receive them. Call Karel Bush, 517-284-5742, or Sherri Goodreau, 517-284-5733.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the Gold Medal Reception on August 14 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. Complimentary invitations for wineries should arrive in your USPS mailbox this week.
Wineries should have received an email from Karel Bush with a link to a brief survey regarding the benefits of the Michigan Wine Country magazine to your business and the Michigan wine industry. Contact Karel Bush at bushk9@michigan.gov with questions.
Did you know the magazine is available online? Visit www.michiganwines.com/wine-country-magazine for the mobile-friendly, interactive digital publication.

The organizers of the Meadow Brook Wine & Food Festival are working hard to increase Michigan winery participation. "Love from the Glove" will be the middle (focus) tent this year at the festival. They are looking to fill this VIP tent with wineries from all over the state, so that guests can travel through Michigan via their wine glass! Promotional radio spots have started in full force on multiple stations in the Detroit Metropolitan area to promote this very popular summer festival.
The Michigan Grape & Wine Industry Council is offering a $100 sample budget reimbursement to the first 10 Michigan wineries to commit to the event. Please contact the event's Sommelier, Lisa Ribaudo, for additional details and to secure your space. Lisa can be contacted by phone at 248-885-2424, or by email at AndiamoWine@gmail.com.

The Council's website has a listing of restaurants that carry four or more Michigan wines. Currently, there are more than 200 restaurants listed from around the state. Because some of you are doing such a great job of getting placement in other states, we recently added a new category - "Beyond Michigan" that will include restaurants in Chicago, New York and beyond!
Check out the list at www.michiganwines.com/restaurants. If there are restaurants that should be on the list, send the restaurant name to Sherri at goodreaus@michigan.gov. Even better ... snap a shot of the wine list and send it along.
Do you need grapes? Want to sell grapes? Check the "Buy and Sell Grapes" page on our website for several contacts for buying and selling many different grape varieties. If you'd like to be listed on the page, send information to Karel at bushk9@michigan.gov.
