“Camp Out” with West Bloomfield Parks
and Recreation September 16th
Event features archery, fishing, s’mores, crafts, and more.
West Bloomfield, August 24, 2016 — The West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Commission (WBPRC)
will host its first kick-off-to-fall event: The Great West Bloomfield Camp Out,
on September 16th and 17th.
Families will enjoy dinner, breakfast, s’mores and various
outdoor activities like hoverball archery, hayrides, live music fishing and more, all
of which are included in the registration fee. The WBPRC has added canoeing,
kayaking and paddle boarding so families can take advantage of Marshbank Park’s
access to Cass Lake. Tent set-up begins at 4:30 pm followed by the start of
activities at 5 pm.
The Great West Bloomfield Camp Out is one of WBPRC’s most
popular events; it is encouraged to register early to ensure a spot. Through a
partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, tents are also
available for rent for families that don’t have one available.
“This sell out event is one that staff looks forward to most
each year,” said Jennifer Tucker, executive director for the WBPRC. “Families
typically have to travel outside of the metro Detroit area to camp and enjoy
the various activities we have planned for this event. We love that we can
offer these experiences right in our residents’ “backyard”.”
Marshbank Park will close to the general public at 3 pm in preparation for the event.
