Change is on the horizon, and it will directly impact how you and your organization interact with Treasury to pay business taxes through Michigan Treasury Online (MTO).
When will this change take place?
April 13, 2024
What is changing?
The state's payment vendor, JP Morgan Chase, is transitioning its payment platform from PayConnexion to Paymentus.
Paymentus features modern design, intuitive navigation, as well as the following exciting new services for our MTO customers:
- same day payments,
- expanded future payment scheduling up to one year, and
- automatic payment information retention through My Wallet.
What is not changing?
-
MTO single sign-on
You will continue to use your one, personal username and password to access all MTO services - including making a payment. When transitioning you into the payment system, we create a unique identifier based on your MTO credentials and the associated business tax account. This safeguards your payment information, upholds the security of online services, and ensures MTO remains easy to use.

Getting to the Payment System
All MTO pathways (i.e., Fast Pay, File and Pay a Tax Return, Make a Payment, and Manage Payments) will look and function the same as they do today. You will continue to receive a pop-up message from MTO before accessing the payment system.
What should I do?
You do not need to take any action today.
What's next?
Right now, we are working to update and create resources that will help you navigate this change.
You can expect another message from us in two weeks, which will include an action item.
