Fall Certification/Reimbursement Requests – Opens September 29, 2023
In order to allow institutions time to submit their Bulk Student Transfer Request, the Fall 2023 certifications and reimbursements will open September 29, 2023.
The MI Future Educator programs have a separate timeline for certification and reimbursement. Watch for a separate GovDelivery, which will outline program changes, certification/reimbursement, and payments.
To be included in the 1st quarter payments (excluding MI Future Educator), awards must be certified, and reimbursements requested by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on November 14, 2023.
First quarter payments will be processed beginning on November 15, 2023.
Clear Ineligible Reasons – Deadline September 28, 2023
MiSSG School Users should be accessing MiSSG to review the “Clear Ineligible Reasons” and to update ineligible student records, if applicable. The deadline to clear ineligible reasons for Michigan Competitive Scholarship (MCS) and Michigan Tuition Grant (MTG) is September 28, 2023.
Year End Balancing – Deadline September 16, 2023
All institutions must balance expenditures for State financial aid programs following the 4th quarter payments. Institutions must issue any refunds owed to Student Scholarships, Grants and Outreach (SSGO) no later than September 16, 2023 and complete the program specific SSGO Refund Worksheet available on our Web site.
MCS/MTG Budgets for 2024-25 – Deadline October 2, 2023
Between now and October 2, 2023, institution budget screens for Academic Year 2024-25 may be updated (with prior-year 2023-24 data).
To update your institution's 2024-25 budget, please follow these instructions:
- Log into MiSSG.
- Select Michigan Competitive Scholarship from the MiSSG Menu.
- Select School Profile.
- Change the Academic Year at the top of the screen from Year 2023-24 to 2024-25.
- Select Budget.
- Enter both the Tuition and Fees and Room and Board using your institution's 2024-2025 Budget Information.

NOTE: If there is no change to budget amounts, click, "The budget amounts have been reviewed and approved," check box.

Save.
For private institutions, once the MCS budget is entered, the MTG budget fields will populate automatically with the same budget information. No further action is required in the MTG school profile regarding the budget after MCS is updated.
If a budget is not entered by October 2, your 2023-2024 Budget Information will be used for 2024-25 awards.

Review and Update State Financial Aid Programs Lead Contact Information in MISSG
To have the most up-to-date contact information for lead contacts processing State financial aid programs at your institution, please review and update your institution's School Profile in MiSSG.
- Log into MiSSG.
- Select a State Financial Aid Program from the MiSSG Menu.
- Select School Profile.
- Update.
- Review and update contact information.
- Save.
- Repeat for all State Financial Aid Programs in the MiSSG Menu.
Personal Identifying Information and Data Security Reminder
When communicating with SSGO staff regarding students, School Users should take precautions to protect Personal Identifying Information (PII). This includes the use of MISSG Student Identifiers (MiSSG ID) in the place of Social Security numbers and date of birth. The MiSSG ID is located on a student's record in addition to several reports; including:
- Bulk Student Summary
- Eligible Students Report
- Ineligible Students Report
- Information Roster
- And more!
