This Specialist position is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of data collection activities for Student Scholarships, Grants and Outreach (SSGO), as it relates to SSGO Financial Aid programs, which consists of making projections for program allocations and payments, along with providing all oversight on researching data trends in higher education enrollment and attainment. This position oversees and executes all Data Sharing Agreements and Interagency Agreements with external organizations and acts as expert/liaison with other agencies and staff to coordinate program initiatives. The incumbent makes decisions on the type of data elements/criteria that are collected and provides reports and recommendations to SSGO management team. The position is also responsible for establishing processes for collecting and reporting data that is legislatively required from Michigan colleges and universities. This position works closely with Treasury Privacy and Security to ensure that all data collection activities are meeting all security requirements and best practices.
This position serves as a Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee) for the Student Scholarships, Grants and Outreach (SSGO) division. This position is responsible for the data analytics related to the administration and quality assurance of the State financial aid programs supported by SSGO. The employee will query data in the MiSSG system to ensure that program requirements have been met, to analyze year end data and to prepare various reports. This position will also support business operations by analyzing system data and making informed decisions on best practices for the implementation of new State financial aid programs and the maintenance requirement of existing State financial aid programs. The employee will also work with the system vendor on SSGO business needs. He/she will calculate the data for the monthly scorecard metrics and recommend changes that could assist staff in measuring outcomes. This position will also support the division’s IT needs.
This position serves as the primary customer contact in a service center environment utilizing knowledge base and case management tools to assist customers. Communicating with the public via the telephone and e-mail. Answering questions regarding the State and Federal financial aid process and assists in the completion of various program applications. Processes exception reports generated from the MiSSG database. Explains Bureau policies, procedures and program legislative language. Utilizes knowledge base information to answer customer inquiries.
