Update on Secretary of State efforts to help Michigan’s 680,000 veterans

Legislation that would allow Secretary of State Ruth Johnson to put a special veteran designation on the driver’s licenses and state IDs of honorably discharged veterans has passed the state House and is moving forward through the Legislature.

Secretary Johnson said she is confident lawmakers will support the bills as a way to say thank you to our nation's heroes and help them get the benefits they have earned and deserve.

Two bills, HB 4037 and HB 4287, have been reported out of the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs & Homeland Security Committee and will now go to the Senate for consideration.

From our customers:

I was at the Novi branch and received the best service ever! We are always so quick to say when someone gets it wrong that I want to give a shout out that someone got it right. Tammy went above and beyond by helping me walk through a complex set of issues and never making me feel like it was a waste of her time. The branch staff were courteous and professional from beginning to end. This was only my second time at that particular branch, but it will not be my last. Way to go!  - Margaret L.
