Precinct Boundary Changes Due April 4, 2022 |
Under the Michigan Election Law, the boundaries of all precincts used to administer the August and November 2022 elections must be finalized by a resolution by the local election commission no later than April 4, 2022. Because 2022 is two years after a census year, the date is later than usual under a provision of the law that applies only in post-census even years.
Any precinct with more than 2,999 active registered voters must be divided into multiple precincts. Precinct boundary alterations made by the April 4, 2022 deadline must go into effect no later than May 4, 2022. (MCL 168.661(2)). This means that you may use your current precinct boundaries for your May 3, 2022 election, if necessary.
Additional guidance and resources will be made available in the coming weeks on precinct changes, and how to inform BOE of these changes to ensure they are properly reflected in QVF.
