SOS Johnson stops by 'Voting Rocks!' event in Highland Twp.

Voters can get helpful election info at Michigan.gov/vote

Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson joined local residents today at Highland Township’s “Voting Rocks!” event, which was hosted by local Clerk Tami Flowers and Deputy Clerk Dawn Mecklenborg at the township’s public library.

“Our next big election is just weeks away,” Johnson told attendees, referring to the statewide primary on August 7. “Today’s event is so valuable for getting people engaged and thinking about the election. It’s going to be a long ballot, so we’re telling people to do your research and know before you go.”

During her remarks, Johnson highlighted the Michigan Voter Information Center, the state’s online resource at Michigan.gov/vote where voters can view their ballot ahead of time, find their voting location and much more.

Residents interested in voting in the Aug. 7 election have until Monday, July 9 to register to vote. New voters can register by mail or in person at their county, city or township clerk’s office or by visiting any Secretary of State office.
