Secretary of State, Grand Blanc Township clerk to demonstrate new voting equipment

75 counties to use new machines Nov. 7   WHO: Secretary of State Ruth Johnson Grand Blanc Township Clerk Cathy Lane Michigan Elections Director Sally Williams WHAT: Media Availability/Photo Opportunity – Michigan’s new voting equipment WHEN: 10:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 27 WHERE: Grand Blanc Township Clerk’s Office 5371 South Saginaw St. Flint WHY: Michigan’s new voting equipment will be used this November in 75 counties across the state — including Bay, Genesee, Lapeer, Midland, Shiawassee and Tuscola counties — with all counties using them next year. Johnson will discuss how Michigan will continue using optical-scan voting systems that feature a paper ballot but voters will start seeing new machines at their precincts. The election officials also will discuss added security features of the new systems and how voters will benefit.
