Board of State Canvassers to meet Thursday, Jan. 19

The Board of State Canvassers will meet at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19 in room 426 of the state Capitol in Lansing.

Included on the agenda will be:

  • Consideration of meeting minutes for approval.

  • Consideration of whether the recall petition submitted by Angelo Brown on Jan. 3 states factually and clearly each reason for the recall of Gov. Rick Snyder. The reasons for recall printed in the heading of the petition are as follows:

    Governor Rick Snyder did not protect taxpayers, Governor Rick Snyder did not ensure the residents basic service of clean water, Gvernor Rick Snyder leadership in 2015, has worked out bad for Flint City we the people, want to recall the Governor of Michigan for bad leadership.

  • Consideration of whether the recall petition submitted by Quincy Murphy on Jan. 5 states factually and clearly each reason for the recall of Gov. Rick Snyder. The reasons for recall printed in the heading of the petition are as follows:

    Because Governor Richard D. Snyder stated in parts of the Michigan State of the State transcript on January 19, 2016 "Government failed you: Federal, state, and local leaders by breaking the trust you placed in us. I am sorry most of all that I let you down. You deserve better. You deserve accountability; you deserve to know the bucks stops here with me." 

  • Such other and further business as may be properly presented to the Board.

Attending and speaking at a Board of State Canvassers meeting

A person may address the board on any agenda item at the end of the meeting. A person who wishes to address the board on an agenda item at the time the item is being discussed must submit a written request to the chairperson of the board prior to the opening of the meeting. People addressing the board are allotted three minutes.
