New office to benefit customers, staff with improved features
DETROIT, Mich. – The Secretary of State office in northwest Detroit will be closed for several days in June as it moves to a new location that features customer friendly upgrades, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today.
Customers and staff will benefit from the customer friendly upgrades that include a larger lobby, public restrooms, power-assist door openers, a public drinking fountain, better lighting, new counters, paint and carpeting. The office also will offer 24/7 access to a Self-Service Station, which provides a convenient option for customers renewing their license plate tabs.
The Secretary of State office at 20210 W. 7 Mile Road will be closed as of Monday, June 22, and will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 29, in the next suite to the west at 20220 W. 7 Mile Road.
Office hours remain unchanged: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
“The features of this new office are part of our commitment to continuously improving and providing convenient customer service while being efficient with taxpayer dollars,” Johnson said. “Area residents can now do many transactions with us online at ExpressSOS.com but when they do visit, they can enjoy the benefits of this office.”
ExpressSOS.com offers a convenient alternative for renewing license plates, driver’s licenses and state ID cards. Online license plate renewal allows customers to “print-n-go” by printing a copy of their new registration to use until their tabs arrive in the mail. Easy-to-follow instructions can be found with the renewal notice. Additional services can be done online as well.
