BABYSITTER TRAINING

Babysitter training taught by Melissa Castonia, Certified Teacher. Learn all of the skills that you need to start your own babysitting business-basics like meeting the family, setting appointments, age appropriate activities & safety instruction. Handouts are included. Certificate presented upon completion of the workshop. Training follows the American Red Cross Curriculum.

Virtual 5K

Love Your Parks Virtual 5K

The mParks Foundation is hosting a Virtual 5K (3.1 miles) the month of September to raise funds for local recreation and park opportunities. You can run, walk, skateboard, SUP, bike, surf or swim a 5K anytime during the month of September.

The mParks Foundation has donated more than $3,000,000 to Michigan communities to build accessible playgrounds and waterparks. The mParks Foundation's goal is to make recreation available to all Michigan citizens, regardless of ability. Thank you for helping move Michigan forward as one of the top states in accessible recreation.

JACK-O-LANTERN JAMBOREE

How does a hayride, pumpkin patch and trick or treating sound? Bring your family and join the parks & recreation staff on a safe fun-filled autumn day.  Participants and their families will enjoy hayrides, a pumpkin from the Great Pumpkin Patch and candy & trinkets from trick or treat trail. Don't forget to wear your Halloween costumes and comfortable walking shoes. Tickets must be purchased in advanced. Event is for children 12 & under on Saturday, October 26 at Oakwood Lake Township Park.

MEIJER TURKEY TROT

Do you like to run or walk? Our 5k Run or 2k Walk is designed to accommodate every person in your family, workplace and neighborhood. So start November out right by creating a little room for that Thanksgiving dinner by participating in the Meijer Turkey Trot. Event is held at Seymour Lake Township Park on Saturday, November 2. Pre-registration with shirt must be done by October 18. Online registration available until October 30. To register online visit www.oxparkrec.org.

The need is constant. The gratification is instant.

OXFORD BASKETBALL CLUB


The Oxford Basketball Club is looking for players who are interested in playing basketball at a competitive level.  We will have teams from 4th grade– 6th grade. Teams will play a season at the Cage Fieldhouse from November 2– December 22 as well as tournaments into the new year.  

Tryouts for the boys program will be held at Oxford Middle School on

Wednesday, September 25, 6:30 pm– 8:30 pm 

Sunday, September 29, 1:00 pm– 2:30 pm

Tryouts for the girls program will be held at Oxford Middle School on

Monday, September 23, 6:30 pm– 8:30 pm 

Sunday, September 29, 11:30 am– 1:00 pm

Cost for this program is approximately $300.  Fee may vary depending on the number of tournaments the team participates in. 

 

OXFORD IMPACT VOLLEYBALL CLUB


Oxford Impact Volleyball club is a AAU program for those interested in playing a high level of competitive volleyball. The programs focus is to strengthen individual and team skills by high intense practices and competing in high level tournaments throughout the state of Michigan. We will be forming teams for age groups U10– U16 with a max number of 9– 10 players a team to maximize each players practice and tournament play time. 

The Impact program is looking at offering both a state and national level team for the 15/16U age groups. The 10U– 14U teams will all play at the state level.

Tryouts

15/16U Tryouts: Sunday, September 29, 3:00 pm– 5:00 pm at OMS
                          Wednesday, October 2, 6:30 pm– 8:30 pm at OMS

10/12U Tryouts: Thursday, November 6, 6:30 pm– 8:30 pm at OES

14U Tryouts: Thursday, February 20, 6:30 pm– 8:30 pm at OES

 

12U-14U teams will have eight play dates while the 10U team will have six.  Tournaments will be decided on by the coach and team and will in the metro Detroit or Flint areas.  Practices will be twice a week at a local school gym.

Cost for the state level programs include uniforms, tournaments, equipment, coach and administration fees.  12U-16U teams will be approximately $650 and the 10U approximately $400.

*Adult Club Information: Participate in friendly pick-up games for the skilled and unskilled player. Equal participation is stressed. Drop in players are accepted at $5 per night on a first come fist serve basis. Members always have priority over drop-in players. Memberships is limited to 30 participants in each club.

WRITING WORKSHOP- ALL GENRES


This is the perfect workshop for both beginning and seasoned writers. We will focus o craft, structure and publishing opportunities in a welcoming environment in which to share and celebrate this art form. Gloria is a published author of fiction, non-fiction, essays and poetry. She earned a Ph.D. in her subject area and has years of teaching experience in the field of writing.
