OXFORD SENIOR CENTER & OCTV (OXFORD CABLE) OFFICES

Seymour Lake Twp. Park will be home to the New Oxford Senior Center as well as OCTV Offices.  Construction on the new facilities recently began and is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2019.  The Oxford Twp. Parks & Recreation Department was instrumental in bringing both facilities to the park.  By adjoining the two new facilities to the current parks & recreation administrative offices and community room, thousands of tax dollars were saved immediately and in the future.  The new senior center will be administered full-time by the parks and recreation staff and will provide countless recreational and educational opportunities.  The staff will program both active and leisurely programs for our area seniors. In addition to programs the center will offer educational classes, health and wellness events and senior networking events.

OCTV will own its building saving thousands of tax dollars in rental fees.  The once completed facility will provide a production studio, editing room, control center, garage and administrative offices.  Its location will lend numerous opportunities for volunteering and partnership programs with both our seniors and parks and recreation department.  It’s an example of two local departments working together saving valuable tax dollars and providing quality customer service to its residents.

BOND IN MOTION UPDATE

Bond in Motion

The parks and recreation department has been tremendously busy in fulfilling its promise to complete as many "Bond in Motion" projects in 2018.

Seymour Lake Township Park Unfortunately, due to construction of the “New Oxford Senior Center & OCTV (Oxford Cable TV) Offices” at Seymour Lake Township Park, the "New" outdoor skating rink, sledding hill, warming center, concession building and picnic shelter will not be constructed before the winter season.

Stony Lake Township Park  When the park opened in the Spring of 2018, users were greeted with a new asphalt road, parking lot, boat launch and ADA improvements including sidewalks and picnic areas. In addition, all three picnic pavilions received new roofs and paint. The beach front underwent improvements providing new seating and sunbathing areas. The beachfront drainage system was also re-engineered ensuring guests safety and saving valuable maintenance resources and funds.

Powell Lake Township Park  The "New" observation/fishing deck was completed earlier this summer. The new ADA accessible park amenity is accessible from the Polly Ann Trail and will provide leisure opportunities for all ages and abilities for many years. In addition to the observation/fishing deck, all boardwalks within the park were replaced. Next year, the park projects that will be completed include a "New" ADA playground, picnic pavilion and sidewalks.

Oakwood Lake Township Park  This winter a “New” Observation/Fishing Deck will be constructed on Rossman Lake with in Oakwood Twp. Lake Park.  The amenity will mirror that of the Powell Lake structure and will offer countless opportunities for fishing and leisurely activities for all ages.

If you have any questions regarding the "Bond in Motion" projects, please call the parks and recreation office (248)628-1720. Thanks for your continued support and trust.
